Boston Red Sox -- Agreed to terms with infielders Donnie Sadler and Jim Chamblee for the 1998 season.

Cincinnati Reds -- Traded minor-league infielder Yuri Sanchez to the New York Mets for minor-league first baseman/outfielder Roberto Petagine.

New York Mets -- Signed pitchers Octavio Dotel and Jesus Sanchez for the 1998 season.

Seattle Mariners -- Agreed to terms on a two-year contract with pitcher Bobby Ayala.

Jacksonville Suns (Southern League/AA) -- Named Dave Schultz director of broadcasting.

Hudson Valley Renegades (New York-Penn League/A) -- Named Charlie Montoyo manager, Brad Ripplemeyer pitching coach and Ray Searage pitching coach.

BASKETBALL

Toronto Raptors -- Placed center Zan Tabak on the injured list with a fractured right hand.

Morris Revolution (ABA) -- Signed guard Malcolm Sims.

FOOTBALL

Denver Broncos -- Re-signed defensive lineman Duane Ashman, guard Chris Banks, linebacker Hillary Butler, defensive back George Coghill and wide receiver David Gamble; signed defensive back Tomur Barnes, running back Ryan Christopherson, wide receivers Andre Cooper and Kevin Jordan, linebackers Errick Herrin and Ryan McCoy, defensive end Pat Ivey, offensive tackles Craig Novitsky and Melvin Tuten and tight end Kendall Watkins.

Mighty Ducks of Anaheim -- Recalled defenseman Pavel Trnka from Cincinnati of the American Hockey League; assigned left wing Mike Leclerc to Cincinnati.

Boston Bruins -- Returned right wing Aaron Downey to Providence of the American Hockey League.

Calgary Flames -- Recalled defenseman Denis Gauthier from Saint John of the American Hockey League.

Vancouver Canucks -- Traded right wing Mike Sillinger to the Philadelphia Flyers for a conditional sixth-round draft choice in 1998; acquired center Peter Zezel from the New Jersey Devils for a fifth-round draft choice in 1998.

Cincinnati Mighty Ducks (AHL) -- Loaned left wing Jean-Francois Jomphe to Quebec of the International Hockey League.

Rochester Americans (AHL) -- Signed left wing Kris Cantu; released center Dave Seitz.

Saginaw Lumber Kings (UHL) -- Waived left wing Mark Green.
