BASKETBALL
National Basketball Association -- Announced that chief of
officiating staff Darell Garretson will step down following the
1997-98 season and will continue to serve in the new position of
director of refreee training.
HOCKEY
Mighty Ducks of Anaheim -- Recalled right wing Peter
Leboutillier from Cincinnati of the American Hockey League;
Assigned center Matt Cullen, defenseman Pavel Trnka, left wing
Bob Wren, and LeBoutillier to the Cincinnati Mighty Ducks of the
American Hockey League.
Dallas Stars -- Recalled left wing Jamie Wright from the
Michigan of the International Hockey League.
Toronto Maple Leafs -- Loaned center Jamie Baker to the Chicago
Wolves of the International League; assigned center Mike Kennedy
and defenseman Daniil Markov to St. John's of the American
Hockey League.
COLLEGE
America East Conference -- Suspended Towson State forward
Derrick Newton five games for fighting in Tuesday's basketball
game against Drexel.
