Chicago Cubs -- Invited pitcher Courtney Duncan to spring
training as a non-roster player.
New York Mets -- Agreed to terms on a two-year contract with
pitcher Dave Mlicki.
Tampa Bay Devil Rays -- Agreed to terms on a one-year contract
with pitcher Albie Lopez.
BASKETBALL
Continental Basketball Association -- Approved Trenton, New
Jersey as an expansion city for the 1999-2000 season.
Detroit Shock (WNBA) -- Named Greg Williams assistant
coach/director of scouting, Sonny Allen assistant coach and
Chris Collins assistant director of scouting.
Brooklyn Bounce (EBA) -- Acquired forward Isaac Morgan from the
Reading Firedogs for future considerations.
FOOTBALL
Carolina Panthers -- Named Sam Mills pro scout.
Chicago Bears -- Re-signed defensive tackle Jim Flanigan to a
five-year contract and safety John Mangum to a three-year
contract; designated running back Raymont Harris as their
transition player; named Greg Schiano secondary coach and Carlos
Mainord linebackers coach.
Dallas Cowboys -- Named Pittsburgh Steelers offensive
coordinator Chan Gailey head coach.
Denver Broncos -- Re-signed cornerback Ray Crockett and tight
end Dwayne Carswell; signed wide receiver Darrick Branch and
defensive end Dameian Jeffries; released cornerback Randy
Hilliard.
Kansas City Chiefs -- Signed cornerback James Hasty to four
one-year contracts; designated defensive end Dan Williams as
their franchise player.
Miami Dolphins -- Designated defensive tackle Tim Bowens as
their franchise player.
Minnesota Vikings -- Re-signed tackle Todd Steussie to a
multi-year contract; designated defensive tackle John Randle as
their transition player and running back Robert Smith as their
franchise player; tendered one-year contract offers to punter
Mitch Berger, wide receiver Tony Bland, guard Orlando Bobo,
safety Duane Butler and fullback Harold Morrow.
New Orleans Saints -- Designated defensive end Joe Johnson as
their franchise player; terminated the contract of wide receiver
Andre Hastings; signed defensive backs Anthony Cobbs and Earl
Little, quarterback Jake Delhomme and wide receiver Milt Stegall
to one-year contracts; tendered one-year contract offers to 15
free agents: offensive tackle Trezelle Jenkins, guard Mike
Verstegen, center/guard Tom Ackerman, linebackers Ink Aleaga,

Fort Wayne Komets (IHL) -- Recalled goaltender Judd Lambert from
Dayton of the East Coast Hockey League.
Michigan K-Wings (IHL) -- Returned goaltender Clint Owens to
Dayton of the East Coast Hockey League.
Baton Rouge Kingfish (ECHL) -- Placed defenseman Kevin MacDonald
on the seven-day injured reserve list; activated forward Cam
Brown from the injured reserve list.
Jacksonville Lizard Kings (ECHL) -- Loaned goaltender Blair
Allison to Detroit of the International Hockey League; added
center Steve Tardif from Indianapolis of the IHL.
Louisville Riverfrogs (ECHL) -- Added left wing Chad Richard to
the roster.
New Orleans Brass (ECHL) -- Released goaltender William Foreman
as the emergency backup.
Idaho Steelheads (WCHL) -- Moved defenseman Todd Dougherty to
the season-ending injured list; suspended defenseman Daniel
Larin; activated right wing Lee Svangstu from the injured list
and waived goaltender Alain Morissette.
Phoenix Mustangs (WCHL) -- Signed defensemen Steve Adams and Ken
