Atlanta Braves -- Designated pitcher Mark Wohlers for assignment; purchased contract of pitcher Joe Winkelsas from Greenville of the Southern League (AA).

Detroit Tigers -- Placed pitcher Bryce Florie on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to March 31, with a right shoulder strain; purchased the contract of pitcher Beiker Graterol from Toledo of the International League (AAA).

Pittsburgh Pirates -- Placed infielder Pat Meares on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to April 1, with a sprained left wrist; purchased the contract of pitcher Kris Benson from Nashville of the Pacific Coast League (AAA).

San Francisco Giants -- Named Elizabeth Roodner Murphy associate general counsel.

Seattle Mariners -- Placed shortstop Alex Rodriguez on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to April 7, with a torn left knee ligament; announced they will recall pitcher Ken Cloude from Tacoma of the Pacific Coast League (AAA) on Saturday.

Tampa Bay Devil Rays -- Signed infielder Tony Graffanino to a minor league contract; released infielder Dave Silvestri.

BASKETBALL

Denver Nuggets -- Signed forward Conrad McRae to a 10-day contract.

Continental Basketball Association -- Fined and suspended Quad City forward Kermit Holmes for leaving the bench and becoming involved in an altercation during a game against Sioux Falls on April 7.

Quad City Thunder (CBA) -- Placed forward Maceo Baston on its roster.

FOOTBALL

Miami Dolphins -- Signed free agent wide receiver Tony Martin, who had been released by the Atlanta Falcons, to a four-year contract.

Minnesota Vikings -- Decided not to match the three-year offer sheet tendered by the Miami Dolphins to restricted free agent tight end Hunter Goodwin.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers -- Signed free agent wide receivers Felman Malveaux and Shannon Myers to two-year contracts.

Arizona Rattlers (Arena) -- Suspended OL/DL Matt Eller and WR/DB Jay Kearney; placed OS Andre Langley on injured reserve; activated OL/DL Michael Kerr and FB/LB Michael Kelly.

Buffalo Destroyers (Arena) -- Placed WR/LB Butch Rolle on injured reserve.

Grand Rapids Rampage (Arena) -- Awarded OL/DL Kevin Carroll from waivers; signed Ol/DL Joe Lewandowski; placed WR/DB Elton Rhodes on waivers.
