BASEBALL

Arizona Diamondbacks -- Purchased the contract of pitcher Bobby Chouinard from Tucson of the Pacific Coast League (AAA); designated outfielder Ernie Young for assignment.

Seattle Mariners -- Recalled pitcher Ken Cloude from Tacoma of the Pacific Coast League (AAA).

Toronto Blue Jays -- Placed second baseman Homer Bush on the 15-day disabled list with a ligament tear of the right index finger; recalled infielder Norberto Martin from Syracuse of the International League (AAA).

Madison Black Wolf (Northern League/Independent) -- Signed pitcher Ariel Garcia and center fielder Brian Aylor.

HOCKEY

National Hockey League -- Suspended Buffalo Sabres defenseman Jean-Luc Grand-Pierre one game for a tripping incident in Friday's game against the Florida Panthers.

New York Islanders -- Signed forward Jason Krog to a multi-year contract.

San Jose Sharks -- Re-assigned defenseman Shawn Heins to Kentucky of the American Hockey League.
