Atlanta Braves -- Announced that pitcher Mark Wohlers refused an assignment to the minor leagues. Boston Red Sox -- Extended the contract of manager Jimy Williams through the 2000 season. Cleveland Indians -- Placed pitcher Ricardo Rincon on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to April 11, with soreness and swelling in his left elbow; purchased the contract of pitcher Mark Langston from Buffalo of the International League (AAA). Detroit Tigers -- Announced they will recall pitcher Jeff Weaver from Jacksonville of the Southern League (AA) on Tuesday. New York Mets -- Placed catcher Mike Piazza on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to April 10, with a sprained knee ligament; placed pitcher Rick Reed on the 15-day disabled with a calf muscle tear; recalled pitcher Rigo Beltran and outfielder Terrence Long from Norfolk of the International League (AAA). Minnesota Twins -- Named Jim Denn vice president of sales and Patrick Klinger director of marketing. Oakland Athletics -- Recalled pitcher Kevin Jarvis from Vancouver of the Pacific Coast League (AAA); optioned pitcher Brad Rigby to Vancouver of the Pacific Coast League (AAA). Toronto Blue Jays -- Activated pitcher Robert Person from the 15-day disabled list; designated pitcher Eric Ludwick for assignment.
