Detroit Tigers -- Optioned outfielder Gabe Kapler to Toledo of the International League (AAA). Florida Marlins -- Placed pitcher Alex Fernandez on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to April 12, with an inflamed right rotator cuff; recalled third baseman Mike Lowell from his rehabilitation assignment with Calgary of the Pacific Coast League (AAA). Milwaukee Brewers -- Placed shortstop Jose Valentin on the 15-day disabled list with a torn ligament in his left thumb; recalled infielder Lou Collier from Louisville of the International League (AAA). Montreal Expos -- Placed pitcher Steve Kline on the 15-day disabled list retroactive to April 11 with inflammation of the left elbow; recalled pitcher Rick DeHart from Ottawa of the International League (AAA). Oakland Athletics -- Purchased pitcher Mike Oquist from Vancouver of the Pacific Coast League (AAA); optioned outfielder Ryan Christenson to Vancouver.
