Detroit Tigers -- Optioned pitcher Beiker Graterol to Toledo of the International League (AAA); designated pitcher Felipe Lira for assignment. Florida Marlins -- Sent pitcher Eric Ludwick outright to Calgary of the Pacific Coast League (AAA). New York Yankees -- Activated pitcher Andy Pettitte from the 15-day disabled list; placed third baseman Scott Brosius on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to April 14, with an acute sprained right ankle. Pittsburgh Pirates -- Announced they will recall pitcher Todd Ritchie from Nashville of the Pacific Coast League (AAA) on Sunday. San Francisco Giants -- Placed pitcher Mark Gardner on the 15-day disabled list due to discomfort in his right shoulder; recalled outfielder Armando Rios from Fresno of the Pacific Coast League (AAA). Texas Rangers -- Assigned designated hitter-outfielder Mike Simms to Oklahoma in the Pacific Coast League (AAA) on a rehabilitation assignment.
