BASEBALL

Arizona Diamondbacks -- Re-assigned outfielder Sandy McKinnon from El Paso of the Texas League (AA) to High Desert of the California League (A).

Detroit Tigers -- Optioned pitcher Beiker Graterol to Toledo of the International League (AAA); designated pitcher Felipe Lira for assignment.

Florida Marlins -- Sent pitcher Eric Ludwick outright to Calgary of the Pacific Coast League (AAA).

New York Yankees -- Activated pitcher Andy Pettitte from the 15-day disabled list; placed third baseman Scott Brosius on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to April 14, with an acute sprained right ankle.

Pittsburgh Pirates -- Announced they will recall pitcher Todd Ritchie from Nashville of the Pacific Coast League (AAA) on Sunday.

San Francisco Giants -- Placed pitcher Mark Gardner on the 15-day disabled list due to discomfort in his right shoulder; recalled outfielder Armando Rios from Fresno of the Pacific Coast League (AAA).

Texas Rangers -- Assigned designated hitter-outfielder Mike Simms to Oklahoma in the Pacific Coast League (AAA) on a rehabilitation assignment.

High Desert Mavericks (Calfornia League/A) -- Placed outfielder Abraham Nunez on the disabled list, retroactive to April 14, with a groin strain.

Waterbury Spirit (Northern League/Independent) -- Named Jackie Hernandez third base coach.

BASKETBALL

Dallas Mavericks -- Placed guard Robert Pack on the injured list with torn ligaments in his left shoulder; activated center Bruno Sundov from the injured list.

Minnesota Timberwolves -- Signed guard James Robinson for the remainder of the season.

FOOTBALL

Atlanta Falcons -- Acquired a second-round pick in the 1999 draft from the Baltimore Ravens for a first-round pick in 2000.

Baltimore Ravens -- Acquired quarterback Tony Banks from the St. Louis Rams for a fifth-round pick in the 1999 draft and a seventh-round pick in 2000; traded quarterback Eric Zeier to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers for a sixth-round draft choice.

Chicago Bears -- Acquired the Washington Redskins' second- and fifth-round picks in the 1999 draft for their second-round pick; acquired the Oakland Raiders' second-, third- and fourth-round picks in the 1999 draft for Washington's second-round pick and their third-round pick.

Dallas Cowboys -- Acquired the New England Patriots' first-round pick in the 1999 draft, 20th overall, from the Seattle Seahawks for their first-round pick and the Carolina Panthers' fifth-round pick.

Detroit Lions -- Acquired the Miami Dolphins' first-round pick in the 1999 draft, 27th overall, from the San Francisco 49ers for their second-, third-, and fifth-round picks.

Kansas City Chiefs -- Acquired the Miami Dolphins' second- and third-round picks in the 1999 draft and a sixth-round pick in 2000 for their second-round pick in 1999.

Miami Dolphins -- Acquired the Cleveland Browns' fifth-round pick in the 1999 draft from the San Francisco 49ers and San Francisco's first-round pick, 27th overall, for their first-round pick, 24th overall.

Minnesota Vikings -- Acquired the Pittsburgh Steelers' second-round pick in the 1999 draft for their second-, third- and fifth-round picks.

New England Patriots -- Acquired the Seattle Seahawks' first-round pick in the 1999 draft, 17th overall, for their first-, third- and sixth-round picks; acquired the Tennessee Titans' second-round pick in the 1999 draft for their second- and fourth-round picks.

New Orleans Saints -- Acquired the Carolina Panthers' first-round pick in the 1999 draft, fifth overall, from the Washington Redkins for their first-, third-, fourth-, fifth-, sixth- and seventh-round picks in the 1999 draft and their first- and the lower of their third-round picks in the 2000 draft.

Washington Redskins -- Acquired the Chicago Bears' first-round pick in the 1999 draft, seventh overall, for their fourth- and fifth-round picks in the 1999 draft and a third-round pick in the 2000 draft and the New Orleans Saints' first- and third-round picks in the 1999 draft.

HOCKEY

NHL -- Suspended Dallas Stars defenseman Derian Hatcher seven games for his actions April 14 against the Phoenix Coyotes.

Nashville Predators -- Signed center David Legwand, their first-round pick in the 1998 draft.

COLLEGE

Monmouth -- Announced the resignation of assistant women's basketball coach Jack Miller.
