Boston Red Sox -- Placed pitcher Tom Gordon on the 15-day disabled list with a strained right elbow; recalled pitcher Brian Rose from Pawtucket of the International League (AAA). Cincinnati Reds -- Purchased the contract of pitcher Rick Greene from Indianapolis of the International League (AAA). Pittsburgh Pirates -- Transferred pitcher Javier Martinez from the 15-day to the 60-day disabled list; purchased the contract of pitcher Todd Ritchie from Nashville of the Pacific Coast League (AAA); optioned outfielder Jose Guillen to Nashville. FOOTBALL Baltimore Ravens -- Acquired tackle Everett Lindsay from the Minnesota Vikings for a sixth-round pick. Cleveland Browns -- Acquired running back Marc Edwards from the San Francisco 49ers for a fourth-round pick in the 1999 draft. Jacksonville Jaguars -- Signed the following rookie free agents: running backs Trevor Bollers and Stacey Mack, wide receivers Lenzie Jackson and Tory Taylor, tackles Rome Douglas and Jarvis Reado, defensive end Ed Kehl, defensive tackle Dary Myricks and safety Anthony Mitchell; waived guard Andrew Greene. HOCKEY Los Angeles Kings -- Assigned right wings Pavel Rosa and Jason Podollan, defensemen Jaroslav Modry and Jan Nemecek and goaltender Ryan Bach to Long Beach of the International Hockey League.
