BASEBALL

Anaheim Angels -- Activated pitcher Ken Hill from the 15-day disabled list; optioned infielder Andy Sheets to Edmonton of the Pacific Coast League.

Arizona Diamondbacks -- Placed pitcher Darren Holmes on the 15-day disabled list with lower back pain; recalled pitcher Vincente Padilla from Tucson of the Pacific Coast League (AAA).

Boston Red Sox -- Placed pitcher John Wasdin on the 15-day disabled list with a strained right forearm; recalled pitchers Jin Ho Cho and Marino Santana from Pawtucket of the International League (AAA); optioned infielder Wilton Veras to Trenton of the Eastern League (AA).

Milwaukee Brewers -- Designated pitcher Jim Pittsley for assignment; recalled pitcher Kyle Peterson from Louisville of the International League (AAA).

New York Mets -- Optioned infielder Mike Kinkade to Norfolk of the International League (AAA); recalled pitcher Octavio Dotel from Norfolk.

St. Louis Cardinals -- Announced they will purchase the contract of pitcher Larry Luebbers from Memphis of the Pacific Coast League (AAA) on Tuesday.

San Diego Padres -- Activated outfielder Tony Gwynn from the 15-day disabled list; optioned pitcher Heath Murray to Las Vegas of the Pacific Coast League.

Texas Rangers -- Recalled pitcher Ryan Glynn from Oklahoma of the Pacific Coast League; optioned outfielder Scarborough Green to Oklahoma.

Calgary Cannons (Pacific Coast League/AAA) -- Placed pitcher Brent Billingsley on the disabled list, retoractive to July 16, with a concussion; recalled Nate Reese from Brevard County of the Florida State League (A).

BASKETBALL

Denver Nuggets -- Signed forward James Posey, their first-round draft pick.

Rockford Lightning (CBA) -- Coach Bill Lavery announced his resignation, effective July 31, to take a similar position with Rockford College.

Phoenix Mercury (WNBA) -- Re-signed forward Toni Foster and signed guard-forward Angela Aycock; waived forward Clarissa Davis-Wrightsil and guard-forward Andrea Kukova.

FOOTBALL

Denver Broncos -- Waived offensive lineman Dan Finn.

Detroit Lions -- Signed free agent cornerback J.B. Brown, who had been with the Arizona Cardinals; signed cornerback Dell McGee, tight end Anthony McKinney and defensive end Shatony Sargeant.

Green Bay Packers -- Signed linebacker Jeremy Beutler.

San Francisco 49ers -- Signed wide receiver Terrell Owens to a seven-year contract extension.

GOLF

LPGA International -- Named Nancy Henderson director of golf.

HOCKEY
Traded the rights to goaltender Chris Sharland to the San Angelo Outlaws for future considerations.

San Angelo Outlaws (WPHL) -- Signed defenseman Scott Chartier and forward Eddie Kowalski; re-signed forwards Kris Waltze, Kevin McKinnon and Carl Paradis.

Tupelo T-Rex (WPHL) -- Signed goaltender Robby Gropp and forwards Al Latreille and Dean Maryland; re-signed forward Dave Szabo.

LACROSSE

Buffalo Bandits (NLL) -- Named Ted Sawicki coach.

SOCCER

Miami Fusion (MLS) -- Acquired defender-midfielder Brian Kamler from D.C. United for midfielder John Maessner and future considerations as part of a trade Saturday.

San Jose Clash (MLS) -- Acquired forward Alejandro Sequeira from the Tampa Bay Mutiny for forward Raul Diaz Arce.
