BASEBALL

Atlanta Braves -- Purchased the contract of pitcher Everett Stull from Richmond of the International League (AAA); designated infielder Marty Malloy for assignment.

Baltimore Orioles -- Transferred first baseman Will Clark to the 60-day disabled list; purchased the contract of pitcher Matt Riley from Rochester of the International League (AAA).

Chicago Cubs -- Recalled pitcher Brian McNichol from Iowa of the Pacific Coast League (AAA).

Cleveland Indians -- Activated catcher Sandy Alomar from the 60-day disabled list; designated pitcher Jim Poole for assignment.

Florida Marlins -- Recalled third baseman Kevin Orie from an injury rehabilitation assignment at Calgary of the Pacific Coast League (AAA) and activated him from the 15-day disabled list.

Montreal Expos -- Released third baseman Shane Andrews.

Philadelphia Phillies -- Activated pitcher Carlton Loewer from the 60-day disabled list; transferred pitcher Yorkis Perez from the 15-day to the 60-day disabled list.

Pittsburgh Pirates -- Recalled outfielder Chad Hermansen, infielder Aramis Ramirez and pitcher Jason Boyd from Nashville of the Pacific Coast League (AAA); purchased the contracts of pitcher Mike Garcia and catcher Tim Laker from Nashville; designated catcher Chris Tremie for assignment.

Rockford Reds (Midwest League/A) -- Added catcher Daniel Santiago to the active roster.

FOOTBALL

Chicago Bears -- Claimed defensive end Van Tuinei off waivers from the Indianapolis Colts; signed receiver Sulecio Sanford and kicker Brian Gowins to the practice squad.

Cincinnati Bengals -- Claimed cornerback Rico Clark off waivers from the Indianapolis Colts, receiver Damon Griffin off waivers from the San Francisco 49ers and cornerback Ty Howard off waivers from the Arizona Cardinals; terminated the contract of cornerback Corey Sawyer; waived receiver Stepfret Williams and nose tackle Kelly Gregg; signed running back Michael Basnight, linebacker Ben Peterson, nose tackle Chad Pegues and tight end Damian Vaughn to the practice squad.

Denver Broncos -- Signed cornerback Jason Suttle, wide receiver Billy Miller and guard Doug Karczewski to the developmental squad.

Green Bay Packers -- Signed guard Craig Heimburger, wide receiver Tyrone Goodson and tight end Lamont Hall to the practice squad.

Miami Dolphins -- Acquired quarterback Jim Druckenmiller from the San Francisco 49ers for an undisclosed draft choice.

Minnesota Vikings -- Claimed cornerback Kevin Devine off waivers from the Cleveland Browns; released cornerback Chris Rogers; signed safety Don Morgan, tight end Eric Moss, linebacker Mike Parker and center Cory Withrow to the practice squad.

New York Jets -- Signed wide receiver James Adderley, linebackers Casey Dailey and Olrick Johnson, cornerback Jermaine Jones and tackle Greg Lotsyz to the practice squad.

San Diego Chargers -- Agreed to terms with cornerback Darryll Lewis on a two-year contract; signed cornerback Fakhir Brown, guards Wilbert Brown and Reginald Nelson, receiver Robert Reed and linebacker John Reeves to the practice squad.

Seattle Seahawks -- Claimed cornerback Chris Canty and receiver Fabien Bownes off waivers from the Chicago Bears and safety Brian Walker off waivers from the Miami Dolphins; waived cornerback DeAuntae Brown, safety Louis Riddick and receiver Robert Wilson; signed running back Michael Black, linebacker Scott Fields, tight end Rufus French and center Jason McEndoo to the practice squad.

HOCKEY

Los Angeles Kings -- Agreed to terms with right wing Glen Murray.

Philadelphia Flyers -- Announced the retirement of goaltender Ron Hextall and named him a scout; re-signed left-right wing Valeri Zelepukin and left wing Craig Berube to one-year contracts.

Pittsburgh Penguins -- Re-signed restricted free agent center Jan Hrdina to a multi-year contract.

St. Louis Blues -- Announced the sale of the team and the Kiel Center to Bill and Nancy Laurie.

Tampa Bay Lightning -- Signed unrestricted free agent right wing Dan Kesa, who had been with the Pittsburgh Penguins, to a one-year contract.

Lubbock Cotton Kings (WPHL) -- Signed defenseman Craig Binns.

COLLEGE

The Citadel -- Named Gerald Runey director of golf and golf coach.

Fairfield -- Named Chris Wayland assistant ice hockey coach.
