Anaheim Angels -- Recalled catchers Steve Decker and Bret Hemphill from Edmonton of the Pacific Coast League (AAA); purchased the contracts of outfielder Jeff DaVanon and pitcher Steve Mintz from Edmonton; transferred outfielder Mike Colangelo from the 15-day to 60-day disabled list; designated pitcher Geoff Edsell for assignment.

Boston Red Sox -- Recalled infielder Lou Merloni from Pawtucket of the International League (AAA).

Chicago Cubs -- Recalled outfielder Roosevelt Brown from Iowa of the Pacific Coast League (AAA).

Chicago White Sox -- Recalled pitcher Kip Wells and catcher Josh Paul from Birmingham of the Southern League (AA); purchased the contract of pitcher Aaron Myette and shortstop Jason Dellaero from Birmingham; designated pitchers Todd Rizzo and Dwayne Jacobs for assignment.

Cincinnati Reds -- Agreed to a five-year deal with the Louisville RiverBats of the International League (AAA).

Florida Marlins -- Recalled outfielder Cliff Floyd from Calgary of the Pacific Coast League (AAA) and activated him from the 60-day disabled list; recalled pitcher Brent Billinglsey and infielder Derrek Lee from Calgary; purchased contract of catcher John Roskos and pitcher Reid Cornelius from Calgary; recalled pitchers Hector Almonte and Michael Tejera from Portland of the Eastern League (AA); placed pitchers Alex Fernandez and Joe Fontenot on the 60-day disabled list.

Houston Astros -- Agreed to a two-year extension of their player development contract with the New Orleans Zephyrs of the Pacific Coast League (AAA) through the 2002 season.

Los Angeles Dodgers -- Recalled pitcher Jamie Arnold and infielders Juan Castro and Alex Cora from Albuquerque of the Pacific Coast League (AAA); recalled pitcher Eric Gagne from San Antonio of the Texas League (AA); purchased the contract of pitcher Jeff Williams from Albuquerque; recalled pitcher Carlos Perez from Albuquerque and placed him on the 60-day disabled list.

Milwaukee Brewers -- Transfered second baseman Fernando Vina and catcher Bobby Hughes from the 15-day disabled list to the 60-day disabled list; purchased the contract of pitcher Jason Bere and outfielder Lyle Mouton from Louisville of the International League (AAA); recalled pitcher Carl Dale from Louisville.

Minnesota Twins -- Recalled infielder Cleatus Davidson from New Britian of the Eastern League (AA).

Montreal Expos -- Recalled infielder Trace Coquillette and pitcher Ted Lilly from Ottawa of the International League (AAA); purchased the contract of outfielder Peter Bergeron from Ottawa; activated pitcher Carl Pavano and infielder Fernando Seguignol from the 15-day disabled list.

Seattle Mariners -- Recalled pitchers Brett Hinchcliffe and Steve Sinclair and outfielder Shane Monahan from Tacoma of the Pacific Coast League (AAA).

San Diego Padres -- Signed catcher-third baseman Phil Nevin to a two-year extension with a club option for the 2002 season.

St. Louis Cardinals -- Recalled infielder Placido Polanco and pitcher Jose Jimenez from Memphis of the Pacific Coast League (AAA); activated pitcher Alan Benes from the 15-day disabled list.

Tampa Bay Devil Rays -- Signed general manager Chuck LaMar to a contract extension through the 2004 season.

Texas Rangers -- Activated outfielder Mike Simms from the 15-day disabled list.
