Simpson JOE SIMPSON
Joe Simpson is in his 10th year with Turner Sports and recently extended his contract through a multiyear deal to continue working on TBS' Braves coverage. In 2001 he will also join the broadcasts on Turner South. He joined Turner Sports for the 1992 Braves season after working as an analyst on the Seattle Mariners' telecasts for five years. His playing career spanned 11 seasons, beginning in 1973 when he was drafted by the Los Angeles Dodgers in the third round. He joined the Mariners in 1979 before being traded to the Kansas City Royals in 1983. An outfielder and first baseman throughout his professional career, he retired from the California Angels organization following the 1984 season.

Born in Purcell, Oklahoma, Simpson was an All-American outfielder and first baseman at the University of Oklahoma.
