TNT To Debut "Pride Of NASCAR" This Weekend During the Pepsi 400 TNT Begins Stretch of Four Consecutive Winston Cup Races in Four WeeksFor Release: August 16, 2001 TNT will introduce a new feature called "Pride of NASCAR" on Sunday, August 19, when they televise the Pepsi 400 live from the Michigan International Speedway in Brooklyn, MI, at 2 p.m., with a pre-race show beginning at 1:30 p.m. The new series of features will highlight the careers of some of NASCAR’s living legends beginning this weekend with legendary team owner Bud Moore. Moore has had some of the top drivers in NASCAR history behind the wheel of his cars including Bobby Allison, Buddy Baker, Dale Earnhardt, Ricky Rudd, and both Jeff and Brett Bodine. Each week a different NASCAR living legend will have the spotlight. Next week, retired driver Bobby Allison will be featured during the Sharpie 500 from Bristol, CT, on Saturday, August 25. Bobby's 25-year NASCAR Winston Cup career was crowned by the series championship in 1983. On Sunday, September 2, TNT airs the Mountain Dew Southern 500 from Darlington, VA and driver David Pearson's story will be highlighted. Pearson was a three-time NASCAR Winston Cup champion and is second on the NASCAR Winston Cup's all-time win list with 105. Finally for the fourth consecutive week of "Pride of NASCAR", Robert "Junior" Johnson's story will be featured on Saturday, September 8, during the Chevrolet Monte Carlo 500 in Richmond, VA. Junior Johnson raced on the Winston Cup circuit from 1953-66 and was one of the first drivers who earned 50 NASCAR Winston Cup wins, tying him with Ned Jarrett for eighth on the all-time win list.
