TURNER SPORTS

  • Courier will serve as a television analyst for Wimbledon coverage on Turner Network Television (TNT) and CNN/Sports Illustrated.

    CAREER

  • Retired May 2000, after 12 years on the ATP Tour, finishing with over $13.5 million in career prize money.

  • He began his career at the age of 16 in 1987, turned pro in 1988, and played through 1999.

  • In 1991, he became the first American to be ranked Number two since John McEnroe.

  • He went on to become the Number one player in the world. A position he held for 58 weeks.

  • Grand Slam victories include: the Australian Open in 1992 and 1993; and the 1991 and 1992 French Open. He was the 1993 runner-up at Wimbledon; and 1991 runner-up at the U.S. Open.

  • Since Davis Cup competition began in 1900, he is the only American to win in five sets in the fifth decisive match twice, 1998 and 1999.

  • He played in the 1992 Summer Olympics.

  • In 1992, he finished Number one and was named the ATP Tour Player of the Year, Florida Pro Athlete of the Year and Jim Thorpe Player of the Year in 1992.

    PERSONAL

  • He served as ATP Tour Charities chairman in 1996.
