Shades of Victor Borge
I enjoyed your piece on Gene Autry (Whitey, Buck and the Singing Cowboy, April 13). Autry is one of the finest gentlemen in the West, old or new. I was also interested in a rare bit of punctuation in that article. Whitey Herzog was being quoted as quoting Autry who was, in turn, quoting Richard Nixon who was asking a question, all of which led to the seldom-seen sentence conclusion:?" ' "
That would be enough to make Victor Borge give up his verbal punctuation routine or risk bruising his tongue.
As pleased as I was with your article on the women's Final Four (Molly Rules in L.A., April 13), I was disappointed that there was no picture of Stanford's Molly Goodenbour, who was named Most Outstanding Player. How about a shot of Goodenbour for all those die-hard Cardinal fans who are already counting the days until basketball season starts again.
