He appears to have some of the moxie that another southpaw Raider quarterback had 20 years ago. And Ken Stabler loves the kid. "He's got qualities a great quarterback should have," says Stabler. "He's got that fire a quarterback needs."

Fire is one thing no member of this quartet of promising quarterbacks is short on. Take Favre. After completing the game-winning drive against the Bengals two weeks ago, he ran off the field jumping and screaming as if he had just won the lottery. However, the game was only tied at 23, and he was supposed to hold for the decisive extra point. With the 25-second play clock running down, Green Bay kicker Chris Jacke ran after Favre, grabbed him and shouted, "Focus! We've got to kick the extra point!"

"I've got a lot to learn," says Favre. "You sec all these things I've got to get straight?"
