Second prize in the Most Unforgiving Remark sweepstakes goes to 41-year-old Toronto Blue Jay star Dave Win-field, who, after the U.S. Marines flew the Canadian flag upside down at the World Series, said, "There's no excuse—whoever handed [the flag] to them should be fired." First prize goes to 40-year-old Jimmy Connors (above), who, after losing to Gilad Bloom in a dispute-marred match in Tel Aviv, said, "Basically, the umpire should be taken out and shot."
