Fernandes, 32, a blind cyclist, and Rosenberg, 33, her sighted pilot, competing on a 21-speed tandem racing bike, won the silver medal in the 60K road race at the International Paralympic Committee's world championships for disabled cyclists. Fernandes and Rosenberg, who have been racing together for a year and were one of four teams representing the U.S., also placed fourth in the pursuit and fifth in the match sprints. Fernandes, who works in community relations, and Rosenberg, an energy analyst, are also the national masters mixed-division road-race champs, having prevailed in competition against able-bodied athletes.

Lily Chen
SAN MARINO, CALIF.
Lily, an honors graduate of San Marino High, won the California Interscholastic Federation South Section girls' badminton singles title for the second straight year—despite not having had a school team to play on or a coach to train her when she defeated Anh Vo of Jordan High, 11-0, 11-0.

Justin Elliott
CLARKSVILLE, VA.
Justin, 4, exceeded the all-tackle state record by seven ounces when he caught a four-pound, 10-ounce black crappie with a 30-inch Donald Duck-Zebco rod. If approved by the International Game Fish Association, his catch will also break the all-tackle and line-class world records.

Wayne Myers
EASLEY, S.C.
Myers, 37, the pro at Southern Oaks Golf Course, shot a 15-under-par 57 on his 6,449-yard home layout. That score broke the club record by five strokes and is believed to be the lowest ever attained on a par-72 course. Myers's round included nine birdies, three chip-in eagles, six pars and 20 putts.
