Georgia senior running back Robert Edwards, a converted defensive back, carried 30 times for 169 yards, caught two passes for 42 yards and scored a school-record five touchdowns as the Bulldogs rallied to defeat South Carolina 42-23.

Craig Swann, a junior linebacker at SMU, had 12 tackles, eight assists and one sack as the Mustangs, using the Cotton Bowl as their home stadium for the first time since 1978, made a triumphant return with a 17-14 upset of Arkansas.
