As the father of Tonja Francene Harding and the father-in-law of Charlie Ward Jr., I was appalled, disgusted and humiliated by your SCORECARD item mentioning their Aug. 26 wedding (Sept 4). Marriage is a sacred event, not something one uses to poke fun at people. The Ward family and the Harding family have labored unendingly to be quality models for their children, setting high standards for moral and character development. I will not allow anyone to drag down these high standards to the low level implied by your piece.

Your article about underclassmen leaving school early for the NFL draft (Leap of Faith, Aug. 28) was fine until you mentioned that after these men are not picked by the pros, many "don't have the resources to finish school." Let's see, they could move back in with their parents, get a day job and take night classes, or they could get financial aid or a student loan, or take advantage of other options available to the thousands of students who pay their own way through school.
