Groome, 49, guided the Manheim Township High girls' tennis team to its 205th consecutive win, 6-1 over Lancaster McCaskey High. The Blue Streaks last lost a match on Oct. 4, 1982. In Groome's 15 years at the school, Manheim Township is 223-9, with 12 consecutive league titles and every regional title since 1990. Anne, a freshman, is the Blue Streaks' No. 1 singles player and the top-ranked 14-and-under female player in the country. Through last Saturday she hadn't lost a set in 11 high school matches this year, and in September she won three matches at the World Junior Tennis Federation Cup in Japan.

Cam Briggs
SPARTANBURG, S.C.
Cam, 12, won the South Carolina Archery Association junior championship and set a state record with a perfect score of 600. He is also the two-time defending titlist of the International Bowhunters Organization's state and regional junior indoor championships.

John Flynn
WHITE RIVER JUNCTION, VT.
Flynn, 37, a marketing manager, edged 15-year-old Adam Ruhf of Belchertown, Mass., 45.5-37 to win the U.S. Boomerang Association's national championship. The contest graded trick catching, accuracy, time aloft, fast catching and distance. Flynn was on three world championship teams.

Kerry Lewin
EDGEWOOD, KY.
Lewin, a senior on the Northern Kentucky volleyball team, broke the Division II record for career aces, with her 466th, in a defeat of Kentucky Wesleyan. Lewin, the 1994 Great Lakes Valley Conference Player of the Year, broke the mark set by Irene Arguelles of Regis College in '91.

Chris Bechtold
ELK GROVE, ILL.
Bechtold, 29, a commercial insurance agent, threw six no-hitters and four one-hitters in his 12 tournament games and was named MVP of the North American Wiffle Ball Championships. He had four perfect games and struck out 214 of the 222 batters he faced.
