Let the guessing game end before it begins. Each year before the Masters, players and aficionados amuse themselves speculating about what possible surprises the lords of Augusta National might have up their sleeves. We're not talking major construction. At the National the details are everything. "I know, great, I made a lot of money; I finished second on the Order of Merit; I won three times, won the Ryder Cup, won the Dunhill Cup; but I'm still very upset."...

Nick Faldo has had it up to here with U.S. reporters prying into his reported separation from his wife, Gill, and romance with a University of Arizona coed: "I owe an apology to the British golf writers. They are a band of angels compared to this lot," he said. British writers responded with this fax: "Apology accepted. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts. The Band of Angels."
