Amanda Searcy

Amanda, 17, won the state girls' age 17-18 karate forms title at the New Mexico Games. It was the third successive year in which she earned a state crown. She declined an invitation to join the U.S. team because it would interfere with her studies at El Dorado High, where she has a 4.0 GPA.

Corey Johnson
GRIFFIN, G.A.
Johnson, a junior guard for Clayton State College in Morrow, Ga., scored 35 points in a 109-90 win over Kennesaw State to break the school's single-game scoring record. In his next outing, a 96-87 loss to Valdosta State, Johnson set the Lakers' single-game assist record with 17.

Arnold Felts
SONORA, TEXAS
Felts, 48, finished 10 rounds in 148.8 seconds at the National Finals Steer Roping to become the first cowboy to win three NFSR averages championships in a four-year period. Felts, the 1981 steer roping world champion, is only the third cowboy to win back-to-back NFSR averages titles.

Dave Donnelly
TEMPE, ARIZ.
Donnelly, a senior aeronautical technology major at Arizona State, won the overall masters' class title at the national collegiate parachuting championships in Marana, Ariz. Donnelly, who started skydiving four years ago, was the intermediate collegiate champion in 1993 and '94.

Becky Hammon
RAPID CITY, S.DAK.
Hammon, a freshman guard for Colorado State, made a women's school-record eight three-pointers in an 82-59 defeat of Idaho State. Through last Friday, Hammon, South Dakota's Ms. Basketball in 1994, led the WAC in three-point percentage (.441) and was second in scoring (17.7).
