Tara Mounsey
CONCORD, N.H.
Mounsey, a freshman defenseman on the Brown women's ice hockey team, was the Bears' third-leading scorer, with 56 points on 20 goals and 36 assists. She was named Ivy League rookie of the year and helped lead Brown—the ECAC regular-season champs—to a 28-2-1 record.

Todd Richards
BRECKENRIDGE, COLO.
Richards, 27, won the halfpipe competitions at the last two U.S. Snowboarding Grand Prix events he entered, at Sugarbush in Maine and Snowmass in Colorado. He was the 1995 U.S. Open halfpipe champ and won the X Games halfpipe this year.

Wilson Sanchez
NEW YORK CITY
Wilson, a 17-year-old pitcher-outfielder, led the U.S. Roberto Clemente all-star team in batting average (.428) and pitched a complete-game shutout with six strikeouts during a series against seven Puerto Rican amateur teams. The U.S. finished the series with a 2-5 record.

Joanna Bernabei
WEIRTON, W.VA.

Meegan Garrity
CLINTON, MASS.

Bernabei and Garrity, senior guards on the women's basketball teams at West Liberty (W.Va.) State and Clark University in Worcester, Mass., set records for assists and scoring, respectively. Bernabei finished her career with the most assists (1,073) in NCAA Division II history, breaking by six the mark previously held by Norfolk State's Lisa Rice. Garrity, the two-time NEW 8 Conference player of the year, ended up as the second-leading scorer in Division III with 2,793 career points. She led the division in scoring with a 28.4 average and made at least one three-pointer in a division-record 72 straight games.
