WEBS VANITY
Edited by Richard O'Brien and Hank Hersch
October 06, 1997
WBC welterweight champ Oscar De La Hoya, whose Web site was hyped ad nauseam before and after his Sept. 13 decision over Hector (Macho) Camacho (look for De La Hoya at www.oscardelahoya.com), is hardly the only athlete with an address on the Internet. Like everything else online, athlete pages offer material that runs the gamut from cool (how to hold a knuckleball on www.tomcandiotti.com) to not-so-cool (a fake Tonya Harding postage stamp on www.tonyaharding.com). As the following sample indicates, some sites touch both extremes. And even a few oldsters are getting into the action.
