The Oct. 1 deadline came and went for the Sixers to lock up third-year shooting guard Jerry Stackhouse (right) with one of those megacontracts some members of his draft class (like the Timberwolves' Kevin Garnett) have secured. So Philadelphia finds itself in a curious position. Team sources say the Sixers couldn't justify paying Stackhouse an extension he requested in the $70 million-plus range, and they find he's more difficult to trade because interested teams don't want to commit to that kind of money either.
