What's mammoth, hairy and lumbers menacingly on ice? Not the abominable snowman but 6'8" defenseman Zdeno Chara, who last week debuted with the New York Islanders as the tallest player in NHL history. In skates Chara checks in at seven feet, about a foot more than the Isles' All-Star sharpshooter Zigmund Palffy.
