Last season, in just 471 plate appearances, Butch Huskey hit 24 homers and drove in 81 runs. That was nice, but the Mets are hoping for a lot more from their stocky rightfielder. The Marlins dangled Gary Sheffield and his $61 million contract, but the Mets didn't bite. Instead, with Hundley out, Manager Bobby Valentine has put Huskey in the cleanup spot, expecting 30 home runs and 100 RBIs. Barring injury, Huskey will get 500 at bats this season—and if that happens, he should power the Mets into the playoffs.
