Joe, a senior at St. Laurence High in Burbank, rushed for 314 yards and three touchdowns on 51 carries in the Vikings 22-20 loss to Fenwick High of Oak Park. In six games through last week he had carried the ball 176 times for 1,400 yards and 15 touchdowns.

Jessica Powers, Birmingham
Soccer
Powers, a senior forward at Creighton, scored four goals and assisted on another in the Bluejays' 6-0 defeat of Southwest Missouri State. Two days later she booted four more goals and contributed another assist in a 5-1 win over Arkansas-Little Rock.

Richard Abrahams, Denver
Swimming
Abrahams, 53, a recreation administrator, won the 50-and 100-meter freestyle and the 50-and 100-meter butterfly in the men's 50-54 age group at the U.S. Masters Swimming Long Course National Championships. He set an age-group world record in each of his victories.

Marsha Graef, Lewiston, Maine
Volleyball
Graef, 44, in her final season as the women's volleyball coach at Bates College, won her 400 th career match when the Bobcats rallied from a one-game deficit to defeat Wheaton College of Norton, Mass., 3-1. Through last week Graef's career record was 403-137 in 14 seasons.

Shauna Marinus, Folsom, Calif.
Autocross
Marinus, 30, won the A Street Prepared class to become the first woman to win an open-division title at the Sports Car Club of America National Solo II Championships. A three-time ladies' U.S. champ, she drove a Mazda RX7 through two courses with two penalties in 103.156 seconds.

Maureen O'Malley, Allen Park, Mich.
Basketball
Maureen, a junior point guard at Light and Life Christian School in Taylor, set a national schoolgirl single-game record by converting 15 three-point shots (in 20 attempts) during the Lady Crusaders' 76-49 victory over East Catholic High of Detroit.
