Corey, a senior shortstop at Desert Vista High, set single-season state records for home runs (22), RBIs (77), hits (70) and runs (68), and career state records for homers (43), RBIs (182) and runs (144). He led the 34-5 Thunder to the Class 5A state championship.

Heidi Howard, Syosset, N.Y.
Lacrosse
Howard, a senior midfielder at Middlebury, had 67 goals and nine assists in leading the Panthers to the Division III title, which they won by beating Amherst 10-9. She also amassed 23 goals and nine assists as the Middlebury field hockey team earlier won the division crown.

Don Molten, Shaker Heights, Ohio
Tennis
Molten, 76, a retired athletic director and soccer coach, won the U.S. Tennis Association's Midwest section doubles title in the 75-and-over age group with partner Dick Schmidt, 74, of Moreland Hills. Molten is also the reigning regional singles champion in his age group.

Skysurfing
Klaus, 24, came in first in every round of the overall competition with cameraflyer Brian Rogers, 27, of Menifee, Calif., at the SkySportif International Open, the qualifying competition for the X-Games. The win gave them the world's No. 1 ranking.

Eddie Naugle, Summerville, S.C.
Soccer
Eddie, a senior forward-midfielder at Summerville High, had one goal and one assist in the Division AAAA state final, leading the Green Wave to a 3-0 defeat of four-time defending champion Irmo High. He had 45 goals and 23 assists during Summerville's 24-2-2 season.

Magdalena Sandoval, Los Alamos, N.Mex.
Track and Field
Magdalena, a junior at Los Alamos High, ran an 11:54.33 to win her second straight girls' state Class AAA title in the 3,200 meters by nearly 30 seconds over runner-up Alicia Torres, a freshman at Taos High. She also won the crown in the 1,600 meters, in 5:13.37
