Already a net star, Anna Kournikova gets an official site

Though she has yet to win an event on the WTA Tour, Anna Kournikova (above) is easily among the most downloaded athletes on the Internet. A search reveals a veritable Kournikopia of Web pages, thousands of them, but none officially registered to the 18-year-old Kournikova.

That changes on Tuesday, when Kournikova launches www.kournikova.com. "These are her words, these are her products," says Patrick McGee, vice president of athletic marketing at Kournikova's agency, Octagon Athlete Representation, referring to the content of the site. (Octagon is hoping to secure the rights to site names currently owned by other parties, such as www.kournikova.org.)

Words and products haven't made Kournikova the Cindy Margolis of cybersports. Photos have. Photos of Anna serving, volleying, pouting, strutting.... "Well have photos, of course," says McGee, "plus broadband video of Anna playing tennis. Anna will post a weekly journal"—presumably with revelations like the one she made last week to London's Sunday People, that she's a virgin.

Just don't expect to find a link to Sergei Fedorov.
