Kyle, a junior at Oakland Mills High, led the Scorpions to the boys' title at the Howard County indoor championships. He finished first in the 300-meter run, in 36.3 seconds, and in the 55-meter dash (6.6) and anchored the winning 4 x 400 relay team (3:42.6).
Kaitlin Sandeno, Lake Forest,
Kaitlin, 16, won the 200-, 500- and 1000-meter freestyle, the 100 and 200 butterfly and the 200 and 400 individual medley at the Southern California senior "Q" championship. She's a member of the national A team and has qualified for the U.S. Olympic Trials.
Becky Siembak Johnstown, Pa.
Siembak, a freshman at Slippery Rock University, had 19 points and 14 rebounds against Edinboro University for her ninth double double this season. Through Sunday she led the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference in rebounding average (9-7 a game) and was second in shooting percentage (.583).
Israel Martinez, Aurora, Ill.
Israel, a junior at West High, beat P.J. Zeilbauer of Naperville North High in the 145-pound division at the regional tournament to win his 27th consecutive match this season. Through Sunday, Israel, who also wrestles at 152 pounds at some meets, had a career record of 107-1.
Rich Miller, Morristown, N.J.
Miller, a junior at New Hampshire College, scored three goals, including the game-winner, for his second hat trick of the season in a 7-6 overtime defeat of Stonehill College of North Easton, Mass. Through Sunday he led the Penmen in goals (23) and ranked second in assists (13).
Alan Fiddler, Moorefield, W.Va.
Fiddler, 34, the coach at Moorefield High, guided the Yellow Jackets to a 13-0 record and, for the fourth consecutive year, the West Virginia Class A championship. After going 0-10 during his first year, 1993, he has coached Moorefield to a 50-3 record over the past four seasons.
