The Week April 14-10
April 17, 2000
The first masters of the new millennium gave us an old story. For the ninth time in 13 years an international player won, this time holding off the cream of the U.S. Ryder Cup team. Also, two gentlemen in their 60s made the cut, and for a moment we wondered if one of them might win for the seventh time. The weekend weather brought wintry winds and temperatures to Augusta, but in Fiji, 7,481 miles away, everything was coming up roses.
