SATURDAY 9/9

?U.S. Open Super Saturday
CBS 11 AM
On Aug. 27, Serena and Venus Williams appeared at famed Manhattan toy store FAO Schwarz to introduce their 11" likenesses, which sell for $19.99 apiece or $34.99 as a set. (What remains to be seen is whether an Anna Kournikova doll would be inflatable.) Will either or both of tennis's most exclusive sorority make child's play of the distaff field and advance to today's final, to be played between the two men's semifinals?

? Nebraska at Notre Dame
NBC 2:30 PM
It's Davie versus Goliath. Coach Bob Davie's Irish (1-0) entered September unranked for the first time since 1986, while the Cornhuskers (1-0) were No. 1. These programs are second and third alltime in victories (768 for Notre Dame, 744 for Nebraska), but in three seasons under Davie the Irish have seemed a lost tribe, felling a Top 10 foe just once in four chances. If Nebraska becomes the third straight top-ranked giant to be slain in South Bend ( Miami '88, Florida State '93), consider it an upset of Biblical proportions.

Don't Miss

MONDAY 9/11
?One Day in September
HBO 8 PM
Horrifying. Fascinating. In the predawn hours of Sept. 5,1972, eight Palestinian terrorists stormed Building 31 inside the Olympic Village at the Munich Summer Games, killing two Israeli athletes and taking nine other members of the Israeli delegation hostage. With Michael Douglas narrating, this is a tragedy expertly and, be advised, graphically retold in this 91-minute film, which richly deserved its 2000 Oscar for Best Documentary Feature. Interviews with relatives of the Israelis, with German officials who handled the negotiations and with the lone surviving terrorist, Jamil Al Gashey, help retrace what happened on that day that ended in a massacre of the hostages and five terrorists at a military airfield.

ALL TIMES EASTERN. SCHEDULES ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE.
