Sarah Fosdick, QUECHEE, VT.
Field Hockey
Fosdick, 18, a midfielder for Vermont's all-star team, was named MVP of the New Hampshire-Vermont classic after leading her state to a 1-0 win. A member of Hartford (Vt.) High's back-to-back Class 1 state championship teams, Fosdick will play for Muhlenberg College in Allentown, Pa.

Jay Grow, INDIANAPOLIS
Bowling
Grow, 51, a Marion County deputy sheriff, won the gold medal in the 50-and-over open division at the World Police and Fire Games when he rolled a record five-game total of 1,084, bettering the previous record by 27 pins. Grow finished the competition with a 217 average.

Peter Oley, IRVINGTON, N.Y.
Track and Field
Oley, 68, the boys' coach at Irvington High for 45 years, has guided the Bulldogs to 80 straight dual-meet victories and seven consecutive Conference III, League C championship titles. Oley, who has also coached the boys' and girls' cross-country teams, has a combined career record of 662-123.

Caroline Downs, RADFORD, VA.
Tennis
Caroline, a junior at Radford High, won the Group A state singles crown and teamed with Jenni Gray to win the Virginia doubles championship. She completed the high school triple crown (singles, doubles and team titles) when she helped the Bobcats win their fourth straight state team title.

Lauren Tanner, PORTLAND, TEXAS
Softball
Tanner, who graduated from Gregory- Portland High and will compete for Harvard next year, was named MVP in her district for the fourth year in a row. The winningest high school pitcher in state history with 112 victories, she had 1,222 strikeouts, 26 no-hitters, six perfect games and 62 shutouts.

Stephanie Kono, HONOLULU
Golf
Stephanie, 11, became the youngest player in state history to win the Hawaii State Women's Golf Association Match Play Championship after beating 23-year-old Desiree Ting of Wailuku 6 and 5 in the final round. Stephanie made a hole in one on the 220-yard, par-4 9th hole.
