WRESTLING Major 15-day sumo tournaments, like this one last month in Fukuoka, Japan, occur six times a year. The elite sumotori wrestle daily in matches that can pit a 500-pound man against a 250-pounder The Rikishi (wrestlers) gather for the tournament's opening ceremony, the Dohyo-iri. Then it's on to the shikiri, or stare-down. The grappling lasts until a rikishi is forced from the ring or falls. Musashimaru gets Asashoryu (below) both ways. Oginishiki (in green) uses yoritaoshi, one of 82 sumo techniques, to throw Tokitsuumi from the ring.
