Softball
Alicia, a senior righthander at Fairfield High, set the alltime national girls' mark for strikeouts when she notched her 2,000th, in a 3-0 win over Jesse Bethel High, in Vallejo, Calif. She is 120-14 for the Falcons, with 2,127 strikeouts and an ERA of 0.08, and is headed to Arizona in the fall.

Erik Vendt, NORTH EASTON, MASS.
Swimming
Vendt, a junior at Southern California, won both the 1,650-yard freestyle and the 400-yard individual medley in school-record times at the Men's NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships in Athens, Ga. The holder of Trojans records in five other events, he was also named NCAA swimmer of the year.

Shannon Bolden, MARSHALL, MINN.
Basketball
Shannon, a senior forward at Marshall High, led the Tigers to a 61-46 win over Minneapolis North and their second consecutive Class AAA state crown, capping a 29-0 season. Named her state's Miss Basketball, Shannon finished her high school career with 2,143 points, including 650 this season.

Everett Hosack, CHAGRIN FALLS, OHIO
Track and Field
Hosack, 100, a retired railroad worker, set seven records at the National Masters Indoor Championships. He broke world marks for his age division in the 60-meter (27.29), shot put (3-52 meters) and super weight (2.21 meters). Hosack also had a heave of 5.10 meters in the weight throw, a U.S. record.

Brian LaMastro, BRIDGEWATER, N.J.
Lacrosse
LaMastro, a senior attack at Hartford, is second in the country in scoring this season, with an average of 4.87 points. As of Sunday he had 47 goals and 26 assists, setting the Hawks record for career points (265) and assists (128). He has been named America East player of the week four times this year.

Paul Humbert, MIAMI
Golf
Paul, 17, scored back-to-back eagles on par-4 holes in a men's tournament at Calusa Country Club. A two handicapper, he made his second shot from about 60 yards on the 370-yard 3rd hole and did the same with a 110-yard approach shot on the 410-yard 4th hole.
