SI: You don't have a catchphrase. How do you feel about "Just Gwynn, baby" when somebody gets a hit?
Gwynn: I don't think I like it.
SI: Has ESPN recruited you for its Softball team?
Gwynn: No. But if I could play softball, I'd still be playing baseball.
SI: As a longtime San Diego resident, do you miss Ryan Leaf?
Gwynn: (Laughs) I miss him because he's always good for discussion.
SI: Do major leaguers make fun of Kevin Costner for his baseball movies?
Gwynn: Yes, and for other things too.
