Bode Miller navigates the men's slalom gates with only one pole during the FIS World Ski championships in St. Moritz on Sunday. Miller finished sixth in this race but won two gold medals and one silver in the two-week-long competition. He is the first American man to win three medals in a world championship.
Bits and pieces of Ryan Newman's car were scattered across the infield when he went airborne, then barrel-rolled to a stop, after being clipped by Ken Schrader on Lap 57 of the Daytona 500 on Sunday (page 54). Newman walked away from the wreck uninjured.
Raise the Woof
There was a wide assortment of dog dos and don'ts on display last week at the Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show in Madison Square Garden, but the judges apparently preferred the one sported by a Kerry blue terrier, Mick (center), because he was voted Best in Show on Feb. 11.
