Milwaukee has cut six pitchers but not Kieschnick. He threw two shutout innings against the A's and had a scoreless inning versus Arizona, lowering his spring ERA to 1.50 in six innings. At bat he went 0 for 1 last week (1 for 4 overall). His arm may be his ticket. "He's a nice surprise," says pitching coach Mike Maddux. "He's using both sides of the plate, throwing breaking balls in any count and showing a good changeup."
