DOMINICAN DANDY

Felipe was the second Dominican-born major leaguer, following Ozzie Virgil, and the first Dominican star in the majors. He remains the only Dominican player with 2,000 hits and 200 home runs. However, countryman Sammy Sosa, with 1,993 hits at week's end, was on the verge of joining him.

DADS IN THE DUGOUT

When Felipe replaced Tom Runnells as manager of the Expos on May 22, 1992, he became the fifth man in major league history to manage his son; Moises was a third-year outfielder for Montreal.
