The Newmarket resident became the only American woman to win a medal in an Olympic distance track race with a bronze in the 10,000 meters in 1992. She won 39 national titles in track, road racing and cross-country, and was a three-time world cross-country champion.
Red Rolfe, Baseball player
The Dartmouth graduate from Penacook played third base for five World Series-winning New York Yankees teams from 1936 to '41. A major leaguer for 10 seasons, Rolfe had his best year in 1939 when he led the American League in hits (213) and runs (139).
Bode Miller, skier
Miller, from Easton Valley, earned silver medals in the giant slalom and the combined at the 2002 Olympics in Salt Lake City. Last winter the 26-year-old won the World Cup giant slalom title, becoming the first American man to do so since Phil Mahre in 1983.
