Coaching adjustments have buoyed the Red Wings. After Detroit lost Games 3 and 4 to the Predators in round I, coach Dave Lewis put Pavel Datsyuk and Henrik Zetterberg on a line together to create chances against Nashville's superior speed. That pair was dominant in Games 5 and 6. After dropping the second-round opener to the Flames, Lewis put Steve Yzerman with Kirk Maltby and Kris Draper on the checking line. They shut down Jarome Iginla in Game 2, and Yzerman scored twice....

Expect the Coyotes, who fired coach Bob Francis on Feb. 24, to try to hire Jacques Martin, who was let go by Ottawa after it lost to the Maple Leafs. Phoenix is a young, evolving team, just as Ottawa was nine years ago when Martin took over there. And Coyotes managing partner Wayne Gretzky likes Martin, with whom he worked closely on Canada's 2002 Olympic team; Gretzky was executive director, Martin an associate coach. They'll be reunited in those roles for Team Canada at the World Cup in August—if not sooner.
