TUESDAY 3
ON THIS DAY: Twenty years ago 16-year-old Mary Lou Retton scored a perfect 10 on both of her vaults to win the all-around competition at the L.A. Olympics and become the first American gymnast to earn a gold. This year the U.S. women's team enters the Olympic competition, which begins on Aug. 15, as heavy favorites.
