Reggie Miller is one of the few players who can, with a straight face, say of the 19'9" three-point line: "I think they made it a little short." Miller launched roughly half his shots from that distance last season and not only led the Pac-10 in scoring (25.9 points a game) but also in field-goal percentage (55.6). Guard Montel Hatcher will give the Bruins a formidable one-two, three-point punch, and 6'10" freshman Kevin Walker has some impressive long-range goals of his own. But coach Walt Hazzard expects stronger inside play from center Jack Haley than he got last season. Then again, if Miller and the other Nukes of Hazzard start dropping their bombs on target, it may not matter who's in the middle.
