Roberto, 16, a freshman at Piney Woods (Miss.) Country Life High, hurled five consecutive no-hit games. He batted .375, struck out 62 and walked 12 in 26 innings in the five games for the Tornadoes, who went 17-3 this season.

Donnelly, a 23-year-old sweeper, scored four goals, including two on penalty corners, in 1-0 wins over Ireland and Great Britain, as the U.S. women's field hockey team won an Olympic qualifying tournament in Edinburgh. Scotland.

Mitchell, 38, has coached the Permian High girls' gymnastics team to 16 consecutive state finals and produced nine individual titlists. 48 All-America selections and one state championship squad in her 16 years as Permian coach.

Scott, a 179-pound sophomore at Piner High, shattered the U.S. under-16 deadlift record when he lifted 502 pounds (62 pounds more than the previous record) at the state championships in Fremont. He also lifted 424 in the squat and bench-pressed 259. Morishima, 25, a 5'4", 148-pound gym manager, became the third man in the history of powerlifting to bench-press three times his body weight when he lifted 446� pounds at the World Record Breakers Championship, in Honolulu.
