Ronnie, 13, sank 23 of 25 foul shots to win his sixth straight state free throw shooting competition in his age division. He has converted 87.2% of his free throws in state competition since he won his first event as an eight-year-old.

Melanie, a junior at Gateway High, led the Gators to their third state girls' swimming title in four years, setting state records in both the 50-yard (23.52) and 100-yard (50.27) free-styles for the second consecutive year.

Christina, a senior at Brockport High, won the national scholastic championship in the one-mile race-walk with a time of 8:01. She is also the junior women's national champion in the 10K race-walk, with a time of 62:38.

Harris, a 24-year-old gymnastics teacher, set two American women's weightlifting records in the 97-pound category during the U.S. championships by hoisting 121� pounds in the snatch and 154� in the clean and jerk.

Cullen, 38, the math department chairman at Durham Academy, guided the boys' and girls' cross-country and track teams to championships in the state independent-schools meets. His boys' track team has now won seven titles in a row.

Dale, a junior at Clio High, pitched three innings of one-hit ball as a righty to get a win in the first game of a double-header against Beecher. Then, turning southpaw, he allowed only one hit in five innings to win the nightcap as well.
