The other Miami, the one in Ohio, has the nation's longest nonwinning streak, 17 games, now that Kansas State is off the hook. A last-second 20-17 victory over North Texas ended the Wildcats' losing streak at 16 and their nonwinning string at 30. Said Kansas State defensive end Maurice Henry, who had six tackles, three sacks and a blocked punt in the game, "Gosh, it was like we'd won the damn Super Bowl. People were tackling me. Little kids were biting me on the ankle."...

Mike Duvic kicked five extra points in Dayton's 49-0 win over Mercyhurst to become the school's all-time scoring leader, with 251 points. His brother John, who kicked for Northwestern from 1983 through '86, is the Wildcats' career scoring leader, with 200 points....

If you're a Penn State fan, you might want to drop a thank-you note to Jessica Bennett of Tiffin, Ohio. After scooping up a blocked punt and scoring the winning touchdown in the Nittany Lions' 16-12 victory over Texas, cornerback Leonard Humphries said, "I told my girlfriend back home that one day I would win a game for her. This was it."
