Gregg, a junior at Homestead High, set a national high school record by throwing the 4-pound, 6.4-ounce Olympic-sized discus 181'5". He also had a 1989 national high school best of 204'5" with the 3-pound, 9-ounce discus.

KARA BRADY
LAWRENCE, KANS.
Kara, a senior at Lawrence High, won the Class 6A state girls' singles tennis title for the second time in three years, by beating Susan Bregin of Shawnee Mission North High 6-3, 6-2. The win gave her a 70-1 varsity record.

MIDDLETOWN, OHIO
Jeff, a senior halfback from Middletown High, rushed 25 times for a school-record 348 yards and four touchdowns to lead the Middies to a 35-9 win over Fairfield High and their first outright Greater Miami Conference football title.

LORI LENGIEZA
HADLEY, MASS.
Lengieza, a senior goal-tender and cocaptain of the Clark University field hockey team, broke the four-year-old New England Division III record of 26 career shutouts with a 2-0 win over Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

JOHN FREDERICKS
HOLLYWOOD, FLA.
Fredericks, 41, manager of a walking shoe firm, won the TAC national crown in the 5-km walk in his age group (40-44) and in the open division, in which his time of 24:41 was good enough to defeat Paul Cajka of Jacksonville by 2:01.9.

COLORADO SPRINGS
Andrea, a 13-year-old forward, scored two goals to lead the Cherry Creek Lightning to a 3-0 victory over Northglenn and the National Youth Challenge Cup under-16 girls' state soccer championship, the team's third cup title.
